Up, Up and Away, my very 1st airplane ride!!!

It was so gorgeous looking down from about 3300 feet above the earth. Yes, it really was my very first airplane ride. I felt like it would have been appropriate to fly a banner from the plane that trailed in the air saying...Maggie's first ride...or something like that...=). And yes, I was a little afraid that I would get sick or something but I was fine. My son's friend is a pilot and took us up last Saturday, the same day we went to the Sara Palin rally. Oh, what a day, one I'll remember forever.

In this picture you can actually see the propeller caught on a frame of the camera. You couldn't see the propeller moving sitting in the plane. That was amazing!

This is a far off picture of me with the pilot, getting ready to get on board.

The pilot told me there would be a little bit of bumpiness coming up in the ride because the earth below had a 'ridge' in the landscape which the air followed the contours of...another amazing piece of information.

More beautiful scenery. I could never have imagined that the earth looked so different, so gorgeous from above. I'm glad I got to see it and have this experience. I was very leery about going up at first. what fun it was. You know what it reminded me of a little bit? The Nintendo games' Mario...flying away in the little plane. The roar of the engine and we seemed to almost just stand still in time...I had imagined that flying would be zooming through the skies like a gunshot? I guess. What an experience! I'm so glad I went.

I remember my first plane ride. i had to go by myself from Illinois to Arizona. i was really scared. i took my bible and kept reading it. i thought it would be like an elevator..straight up and then down..but of course i was young then and did not know squat!! I have flown a number of times since then and a lot by myself going back to Illinois to help my parents. Glad that you got to go..now go get on a BIG one!!

What a great experience.

Not sure I would dare go up in such a small plane. You're very brave to this for your first trip!

Where to next?

Your first airplane ride? Wow. And to go in such a small aircraft. You must have been thrilled, apprehensive, and overjoyed all at the same time. Thanks for sharing your daring journey :) !!

Why have you left it so long to fly?! I've been in small planes like this, as well as the overseas jetliners, and I still get just a teeny bit nervous in any of them!

Is that a Cessna 172? I love small airplane adventures. If I had to say one of the top things I miss about being in the US, THAT would be it. I'm so glad you had a wonderful time. Your pictures are great!

(Thank you for finding my blog post about autumn in Berlin because now I have found you)
