"When I was just a little girl, I said to my Mother, what will I be? Will I be famous, will I be rich? Here's what she said to me. Que, sera, sera whatever will be will be. The future's not ours to see. Que, sera, sera."
My Mother used to sing this little song to me. Another favorite of mine was the song..."How much is that doggie in the window?" And my dear Grandma used to sing this for me..."I'll be with you in apple blossom time, I'll be with you to change your name to mine....". I'm so glad to be all grown up now. Childhood seemed to last for eternity. I always felt that I began to really live when I got married and then, when I was born again by accepting Jesus, well, life took on a richness you must experience to understand. Back to the memories I have of being this tender age...grin. My sister and I laying on our stomachs in the living room, with our legs tucked back under the couch, watching the tv program...'Sky King' and 'The Long Ranger'. Oh how exciting!!!! and how quickly they were over. We also had a collie dog and I had a doll that was almost as tall as I was. Isn't it funny how our memories can go so far back in time, bits of life retained for all of our days, some good memories, some of things that were scary. Like going to kindergarten! I notice I had a cute little doggie on my socks in the picture and a ring on too. How about that...=). I must have been a pretty happy camper! I'll bet my Mum sewed my jumper. I remember once standing on a kitchen chair while she pinned up the hem of a dress she was making me that had flocked lambs on it. Oooh, it was pretty!

"Jesus wants me for a sunbeam, To shine for Him each day; In every way try to please Him, at home, at school, at play. A sunbeam, a sunbeam, Jesus wants me for a sunbeam; A sunbeam, a sunbeam, I'll be a sunbeam for Him." from the hymn "I'll be a Sunbeam". Nellie Talbot/Edwin O.Excell

thank you for sharing ... such a sweet place to take us all ...

i can so relate ... i remember worrying that mom would prick me with a pin (she had done it once maybe!) as she sinched something here and there!

i felt old as a child and then finally felt free and childlike for the first years of my marriage! i think maybe i must do things backwards!!

(hugs)

You have puppy dogs on your socks!! I have a similar pair from my daughter's childhood that I've kept for her.

"...when I was born again by accepting Jesus, well, life took on a richness you must experience to understand."

Amen. I remember (after coming to Christ) that my mind was turned/transformed to Light that I looked back and saw how much my mind had been in darkness. Even my desires for things began to change. I started wanting to please God. There was a 'joy' in knowing He loved me that I never had before.

Adorable pic. I sang all those songs as a child too. Jesus wants me for sunbeam was one of my favorites.

Hello Miss Maggie, you are in voice today..*VBS* I think the singing of memories is contagious..LOL. It's odd, but I thend to "think" that way, kind of strange, yes? But effective.
I know all the songs you mentioned including "I'll be with you in appleblossom time", which I am quite sure if from one of the WW's. Probably WW2.
My mom used to sing "Red River Valley", and I love that too. The old lamplighter is from a song that she used to sing. I don't know all of it, just a stanza or two.
And you probably remember the Hit Parade being on television? That's where I first heard "Doggie in the Window"..*VBS*
It seems we need ALL the pieces in order to piece together this quilt called "a life".The sand in our shoes, the snow flakes on our tongue, wishing on a star, and all the rest. Thanks for all your nice comments and hugs, here's one for you, Hugs, Finn

And all the way across the Pacific Ocean, back in the 1950's, Mrs W. sang to her daughter the same songs as your Mom sang to you, Maggie. Who would have believed back then that 50 years later, we would be united on something called the Internet, sharing those memories?
Love the pic of you!
