Home Sweet Home.....no wondor there is so much sentiment about home. Its where we come to rest and revive our bodies and souls. Where we can shut the world out and pad about in cozy socks and old sweaters. Home is where we can put the teakettle on whenever we like and eat or not eat at any hour of the day or night. Home is cozy lighting. My father used to say that a room lit with just an overhead bulb seemed like a waiting room to him. So....several small lamps lighting the rooms make it cozy and inviting to me. I like the mornings because the sun is out mostly and we arise with energy and feeling good. And, its a gift from our creator, Almighty God, to have a new day to live in. The evening .....the golden evenings, when just sitting at the computer or reading invokes relaxation and a casting off of the day's stresses and duties. All this to say, I'm glad to be home tonight and hope for those who are displaced because of Katrina that they will have a home again as soon as possible. Did you ever notice how things look so much better in the morning when you aren't tired or grouchy? The blue book pictured here is titled..."Old Rose & Silver" by Myrtle Reed. A vintage story, rich with description. I love reading your blogs....its like reaching out and touching base over the tea cups. Posted by Picasa

Good Evening Miss Maggie, I love what you are saying about home..beautiful word pictures. Kind of "the fire softly burning, and supper on the stove...", a light in the window.
Someone who cares that we come home.
There was a quotation in a small quilting book I had, don't recall the name of the person. Will have to dig it out and see, but she said " our souls are like children, they need to know where home and how to get a hug, that's why God made friends". I think I especially like it because for a large part of my life I didn't know where home was. That's something that can happen in many different ways. What I realize now, is that it's about a sense of security and peace in your valley, no matter where that is. But I'm always glad God made friends..*VBS* Thanks for being the special person that you are...

I couldn't agree more - what a beautiful post :-)
Home is so important to me, it is somewhere that has to be able to make me feel better after a bad day, sleepy at night, peaceful when everything is chaotic and wide-awake in the darkest of mornings. Our homes are wonderful places!

Aaaah, lots of kindred spirits I see = ). Finn, I love your quotes and your special wisdom. You make me smile and think about good things. thankyou dear blog friend!

Peggy, thats how I feel about visiting your posts! I would love to be in your fav. links!

Kali, yes...home is all about the comfort factor. Much of America has forgotten how important 'home' is I think, in the great rush for entertainment and such. Just my thoughts about it.

Vintage Pretty...home is wonderful, isn't it!. We have so much to be thankful for. You know, I think Gladys Tabor and others based thier books on this very thing. Maybe the older we get the more we appreciate our 'haven of rest'.
