Things I'm thinking about...

We have been busy working outdoors on our flower beds. My husband has been lugging flagstone around for my every whim. Which makes for a lovely summertime. =) This is a picture of our herb bed, with a few small flowers added here and there.

And, we went to some community yard sales Saturday past and what fun! I came home with a darling doll house, chock full of furniture in every room. No one seemed to want it, so hubby bought it for me to enjoy as a conversation piece....for a while. I think my grandson might just enjoy arranging the rooms of furniture around. Some pictures of it will be coming.

Some Sunday thoughts....

In Sunday Sch. this week our lesson was about Abraham...and his 'testing'. God told him to offer his son Isaac up for a burnt offering. How his heart must have been tortured over this. Yet, God had never failed to bless Abraham, and Abraham knew this about God and how faithful God is! So, he obeyed and as he lifted the knife in the air above Isaac...the Angel of the Lord stopped him, and provided a ram for the sacrifice. (we can see the son's obedience also).

Isaac was the one thing Abraham loved most of all in this world, and God wanted to see if Abraham loved his God enough to be willing to give his precious son to God. And...God...did not stop the death of his precious Son...who went obediently to the cruel cross to bear the punishment of our sins, that we might have eternal life.

When God called Abraham to leave his home place in Ur, God promised to bless him and make his name great and "in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed."

As I was thinking about 'blessings' it came to me, that I almost always think of material possessions first, as 'blessings', (which they no doubt are) but.....the sweetest, most valuable blessings are the ones God gives us from within. His wisdom, his salvation, his everlasting love for us personally and the witness of his Holy Spirit in our hearts, that thrills us with Biblical truths. And his comfort. He is 'the God of all comfort'. No money...no possession but God.

We too can claim the following truth for ourselves if we are walking with God. " Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward." Genesis 15:1b

Wonderful post and wonderful truths. Our focus is so often on the material things, as you say so well. I love your petal facecloths, too, by the way. that might be a nice project for me to try, if I can figure out the directions!

Oh I wish my husband would do any kind of gardening. He cuts the lawn but it stops there! Never mind it has a sort fo a wild look about it. Now I need to get the jetwash out to clean the patio again it's looking a bit grubby.
What a great find that dolls house. Lovely. They cost a fortune here.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love your herb garden. I am starting one in pots. Your flagstone gave me an idea for my yard. How do you control the weeds between the stones. Mulch is not an option here.

Your thoughts on blessings were an encouragement. One of my favorites on that subject is Luke 18:29-30. I tend to think of blessings in future terms. The Lord is showing me the blessings in this present time.

I think that wordpress does my blog that way for handheld devices. I didn't do anything, but I have checked several wordpress blogs and they are like that on my ipad. There is a place to click if you want to see it in regular format. I haven't noticed blogger being like that yet.
