Day before yesterday when the weather was gloomy and overcast (and I could just imagine Jane Eyre walking towards Mr.Rochester's foreboding mansion)...I treated myself to an afternoon of baking.

Two cherry pies and one egg custard where the results. What is it about baking that is as comforting as a Grandmother's love? I enjoyed every minute of that afternoon. After the kitchen was cleaned up (I heroically resisted making the left over pie crust into cinnamon rolls like we always did when the kids were home yet) I sat at the kitchen table and read more of 'Miriam's Journal'. I love that series of books oh so much. We are getting ready to go visit our daughter.....I'm working faithfully on laundry.

All of the houseplants were watered until its a wonder they didn't drown on the spot. My baby violets are so much fun to watch grow. If you haven't tried starting rooting a single leaf...well! Go for it! Stick the stem of your violet leaf in a small glass of water that has plastic wrap over the top. Make a slit in the plastic and insert the stem of the leaf. Thats all there is to it.

Isn't this grillwork pretty? Our son is remodeling his home....its 100 years old or older and going to be delightful bye and bye. The drywall is up on all three floors now...what an immense amount of work that goes into making a home. Its hard to remember that it will come to an end and it will be worth it all. I remember my husband built our home...the 'to do' list was never ending it seemed.

At the end of our lives it will have been 'worth it all' to have lived for Christ. I have recently talked with someone about her need for the Lord...and she feels she is not a sinner. Every single day of my life....I see my sin nature at work in me. I'm thankful God put his finger on me so to speak...and his Holy Spirit convicted me deeply of my guilt before a Holy God. (this happened by hearing God's Word, the Holy Scriptures preached) He brought my heart to sincere repentance toward God...and I gave up my lies of being 'good' and asked him to forgive my sins and accept me as his child. And....He did. 'Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved'. That truth is from the book of Romans, chapter 10 verse 13.

When I got saved...."If, (I put my name).. (or insert your name into this verse)....shall call upon the name of the Lord she shall be saved. I did and I am! Millions will be cast into hellfire....but not without the sacrifice and love of God's son Christ Jesus having suffered Crucifixtion beforehand to save them and...who calls to all....'Come unto me'. I just can't help sharing these truths...of which I am not ashamed. They turned me around...my name is now written in the Lamb's book of life.

"The Lord...will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy....Zeph. 3:17 and that beloved verse below...that outpouring of God's divine love for sinners....

"For God so loved the world (you and I !), that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." The book of John, chapter 3, verse 16

Each of us either accepts or turns away from Christ the Saviour. Those that do nothing, well, that equals turning away. May it not be said ...depart ye, I never knew you. Do you want to know how to be saved? In my sidebar is a link...called 'Are you a good person?' ....read through these short questions. God is calling but who is listening? May God bless you for having taken the time to read through this post...and consider these truths.

My niece always did something similar when her grandma (my mother-in-law) was making pies. She rolled the leftover dough into balls and then rolled the balls into cinnamon and sugar. She is the oldest of all the grandchildren and I remember she always had lots of younger cousins, including my own children, waiting around for the fun things she made.

Ahh, those were good days. When the kids were all small and all the various branches of the family gathered around at Grandma's for every special occasion we could invent.

Now it's my turn to be "Grandma"!

I roll out the leftover dough thinly, brush with beaten egg (with a smidgen of water to thin it) and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. So yummy! I love to bake but I love to eat what I bake. Lots of it, I'm afraid. Although I did resist the gingersnaps I baked up for my granddaughter last night (I freeze the dough in balls in a zip-lock bag with instructions for baking, and make just a few as needed). Yay for me!

The pie looks so delicious. Last year I planted a sour cherry tree and got sixteen cherries ;) ... hoping that in the next few years it grows big enough to can and bake with the fruit. Baking is a comforting task that does transport a person back to grandma's kitchen somehow ... lovely!

Your son's home is hard work now, but the payoff will be worth the effort soon.

You are always so eager and open to sharing the Lord. I admire that in you, Maggie Ann!! :)

Enjoy your trip to visit with your daughter ... May the Lord give you a safe journey.

Mmm, your pie looks so delicious. I am in the midst of making chocolate chip cookies if I can pull myself away from the computer.

I was reading in the Word where God said that they could not enter in because of unbelief. Today, many do not believe they need a Savior. For what? If they have no sin then there is no need to be saved. They have judged themselves according to the world's standards of 'good'. There will always be someone better or worse than ourselves on those terms. But the standard is God. A Holy Christ. Therefore we are all sinners.

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God
Pausing to lift your friend in prayer that God will open her understanding for her need of a Savior.
