Oh how sweet to be at home. Our neighbor made these wooden shutters for me from a pattern from 'Country Woman' years ago. I found them in the attic recently and am using them once again. I realized that I had forgotten to tell you something. Remember the Valentine church dinner we went to just last Saturday night? Well, we have to travel a really steep hill to get to our church and it was covered with ICE. Near the top, we got stuck and just could go nowhere. I don't know how my husband controlled our car so well, fighting it inch by inch until he backed it into a private drive and we sat there waiting for a snowplow to come along the better part of an hour.

But, the snow plow did arrive finally, and we followed in its path up to our country church where everyone had already eaten and were laughing at the skits. My husband and I probably had faces as long as tombstones...lol. We were so tired and worn to a nubbins. Kind of, you know what I mean. Picture waiting in a dark car for that long on a winter night. But...once we got there... We heard a great devotional brought by a senior in high school who surely must be called to preach. All about loving God and making excuses not to stay home from church and its functions...but to make excuses to BE there for & God!

Here I sit on a Saturday night one week later, already barely giving a second's worth of thought to Valentine night last week. My sweet hubby brought me another bouquet tonight...a reduced bouquet...of red carnations and white mums, all wrapped up in red foil in a glass vase. The color just pops amid this cold February night. I like it. He said even if it only lasted one day, he knew I'd enjoy it.

Our Sunday School class of two boys and one girl will be hearing how Nicodemus came to Jesus by night...and our Lord who made him explained so patiently what it meant to be 'born again'. To believe on, or trust in what Jesus did for him. Jesus died on the cross to take the punishment for his sins...and ours. 'Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word'. We will be learning John 3:16 in sign language...and it makes the verses' so meaningful. I love it.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" John 3:16 When we hear God's word and his Holy Spirit convinces and convicts us of sin in ourselves, we ought to be disturbed, and repent. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans chapter 10, verse 9. What a glorious chapter of the Bible....a lighthouse pointing the way to the Saviour and salvation. Since I've been 'born again'...saved from hell, and for heaven, I love the old, old story of Jesus and his love.

I like your shutters.Your trip up the hill gave you more time to sit still with that dear husband.I think he likes flowers in a vase as much as you do. LOL

I'm pretty sure John 3:16 was the first verse I ever memorized. A beautiful young woman named Betty used to drive my brother and I to Sunday School each week.

I would have enjoyed being a small girl or boy in your Sunday school class today :) Another bunch of flowers .. how nice! I planted the seeds last night (tomato/petunia/marigold) by taking a empty paper towel roll and cutting it into rings about one inch and placed them inside a recycled hard plastic 'to go' box with a lid (from a restaurant). Each ring was filled with fine seed soil and sprayed with water from a bottle until quite damp. Seeds were placed in each ring sprayed again. I did the same with a paper egg carton and placed the 'boxes' on top of the refrigerator to keep slightly warm. Only, it was not warm so I turned on my oven's lowest setting for proofing dough (just slightly warm 80 F). Will post a picture when my camera is charged.

I'm glad you finally made it to the church function and got out of the snow. The devotional sounds like it was very enjoyable.
Your shutters look nice. :)

The shutters are awesome. It's been a long time since I've felt like blogging, but of course I had to check my favorite ones.

you know you write so beautifully. Always full of love and inspiration. So glad that you made it safely to the church. Those shutters are so sweet looking there. Love them. I hope you are keeping warm. Of course here in FL it's not too cold. Tomorrow will be a nice high of 70 degrees. I don't think I told you before but my little one is in a new school to help his speech along and he loves it and is doing really good. I am so thankful for that. Nothing else too exciting going on. Keep warm....talk to you later. hugs!
