This is not a very good picture of the vintage vase my daughter gave me for Christmas, but I am pressing it into service anyway. It has a 'frog' that lifts off the top like a cover. It is so nice for making its own flower arrangement...I'm quite taken with it.

The other picture of the plate stand is a 'favorite find' I found it at our school yard sale. It was only $2.00. You can tell its been around a while but I love it.One of the birds was missing, but my daughter 'scootched' the remaining birds together and you can see it is getting constant use. I think this plate holder is charming! What's one of your favorite gifts this year? Do you have a favorite yard sale item from 2008? Just typing 2008 I get the feeling for sure it really is gone. Its great though that the Lord gives us a brand new day each and every morning. I always liked the quote from Anne of Green Gables....a new day, with no mistakes in it....(yet)grin.

Well, tomorrow is time to go to worship the Lord. My Bible is laying open here and my eyes go to these two verses..."He will swallow up death in victory; and the LORD God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth; for the LORD hath spoken it.

And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation." Isaiah 25:verses 8 and 9.

Your vase is lovely! And I love your Anne quote. I've been watching Anne of Green Gables while I work around the house. It always leaves me feeling happy and hopeful! And that quote is exactly how I view each day.

My favorite gift this season was time ... my husband has been caring for our youngest so I can catch up on projects and do a little quilting. That has been sooo nice!

Rejoicing with you,
Lea

i love to see something that was once discarded and sold for little - redeemed by someone like you, who then cherishes it and gives it a place of honour ...

just like Jesus did with us ... we were discarded - but He came, so that we too could call God our Father, and be brought up to a place of honour ...

isn't that a mystery ...

but i'm so thankful for my salvation!

and thank you so much for praying for my sister, dear Maggie Ann ... may the Lord bless you ...

Your vintage vase and plate stand are very charming and both are items I would love, too.

We don't exchange Christmas gifts with adults in our family. My mother broke the rules, though, and gave me a box of miniature chocolate hedgehogs. So that was my favourite gift, of course ;)

The Anne quote is one of my daughter's favourites.

Thank you for "being there" for me today. You are such a dear.

So happy I found you again, Maggie Ann. Our computer up and died a couple of months ago, and I COULD NOT remember the name of your blog (or many others). Suddenly it occurred to me today while I was doing the dishes :). Anyway it was fun catching up on your posts, just thought I'd say so.

That is such a nice vase. I am so glad that you had such a nice Christmas.

My favorite gift was all my children (5) being home at the same time for Christmas. All their families were also here except for one of our daughter in laws and our oldest granddaughter and her family. It was such a great time with all 32 of us stuffed into our very modest 3 bedroom home. People that I loved filled ever corner. Thank you for asking about my favorite gift this season. connie

Wow, I'm so loving that frog aspect of your new vase. I found a small round frog that was in a box my husband brought up from the basement. Your vase is absolutely wonderful. What a beautiful gift.

Sweet birds! What a find.

I don't have any fav yard sale item so I'll choose from the basement box. We enjoyed unwrapping several items brought back from Japan in 1995. It also contained my son's baby dishes, Noah's Ark print, that my mother gave him over 21 years ago.

Wishing you a blessed New Year.

Yes, I love all the Anne of Green Gables movies and have read the books. I have not even heard of the Avonlea series but just googled them and know I will enjoy those as well. Thanks for opening up a whole new Anne venue for me.

I found one little Anne of Green Gables song for my blog. Have you heard it? I wish they had more!

Smiles,
Lea

That vase is very beautiful and unique. A treasure to hold beauty from the garden. I'm trying to think if I got any good deals at garage sales this past year, hummm? I got a few cute parlor type tables at a good price from my favorite vintage store (called 'My Favorite Things' :) That's as close as I can remember to a good find. I couldn't see the second picture ... my pc is slow today. Have a blessed week.

I came back to see if I could view the plate stand. Yes, indeed, today it's downloading on my pc. It was worth the second trip over here. The birds on top seem to want a nice apple pie sitting on the top rack perhaps? :) You always find good stuff at yard sales.
