The Simple Woman's Daybook

October 20,2008

I am thinking.....
How relaxed I am today, taking time for myself...no rush.

I am thankful for....
My home, its so tranquil and peaceful with the sunshine spilling into the rooms from outdoors.

From the kitchen...
My favorite breakfast, Special K with dehydrated strawberries, yum.

I am wearing...
Oh must I admit I'm still in my bathrobe? Its ok, I deserve this luxury after staying up till 1 a.m. keeping my son company while he packed for his trip to Calif.

I am creating...
Wool yarn to knit and felt a delightful Valentine's purse unless I change my mind. The red & white yarn is on the 'niddy noddy'. The pattern was free from 'Ravelry'.

I am going..
To the library today or tomorrow and get some more books to read. I've discovered a couple of new authors I love.

I am reading....
'Waiting for Summer's Return' by Kim Vogel Sawyer...actually just finished it and loved that story...give it 5 stars from me. I read the book of Esther ( in the Bible) yesterday and am intrigued. Want to read it again....wow.

I am hoping...
To get the house decluttered and sparkling by the time my daughter arrives this Thursday...( I can hear some of you thinking! What is she doing relaxing in her bathrobe then? small smile here, I don't have the answer).

I am hearing...
The hum of the computer and the ticking of a little blue faced clock sitting here keeping the pc company.

Around the house....
The kitchen is pretty as a picture...I cleaned it well before I went to bed last night and on the kitchen table are two newspapers our son brought me back from Ontario, Canada last week. I'm looking forward to reading more of them.

One of my favorite things...
My newly finished 'Anne's Shoulder Shawl' which I finished knitting this past week and wore yesterday with much pleasure. I'll post a picture soon.

A few plans for the rest of the week...
Lots of cleaning and some knitting. Planning to have a fabulous time with our daughter and our grandchildren. Maybe making a fall wreath to hang by the front door. Bringing in my pot of French Lavender. I think I was right...I should have just let in come in and be a houseplant right off, but hubby thought it would like the great outdoors. It looks like it 'survived' the great outdoors, but scarcely...Staying faithful to my less sugar and no flour adventure. I feel mega better already after just one week!

Here is a picture I am sharing that I just took this morning while spinning.

I can always spend way too much time on blogger too! I haven't tried it, in fact I have never seen any wool that has not yet been spun except for in our recent trip to see the Muskox here in Alaska. That is WAY too expensive! I will have to check out your suggestions! Thanks!

It sounds like you've had a delightful morning. The wool yarn and the spinning wheel make me a bit jealous. I don't really knit or crochet but I wouldn't mind learning and I would LOVE to spin and weave.
Have a wonderful visit with your daughter and those grandchildren.

What a neat picture. My daughter and I are fascinated by spinning and wool arts. We attended a great Textiles workshop when we visited Old Sturbridge Village and there was a local spinning group at the county fair this year.

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by.

I'm glad someone else likes spending time in their jim jams!

Love your spinning wheel, looks great. Looking forward to seeing your shawl when you get time to post. You seem to do so much, makes me feel guilty, seems to take me ages to do anything.

Have a lovely time with your daughter.

If I had to work for a living, I'd work at home so I could stay in my jammies all morning too! :) I checked out the daybook site and was fascinated with all the canning 101 lessons. I may just try my hand at a daybook too. Enjoy your visit with those oh so precious grandbabies!! And, of course, your lovely daughter.
