This is my 'effort' ;-) for the Wednesday Stampers. Halloween is not in my life since I've come to receive Christ as my Saviour... and below are two interesting and informative reads regarding this topic. Hope you'll take a look. ....Since I wanted something non-spooky here on my work, here's my original idea...which kind of flopped...smile. Beneath the stamped pumpkin the children are pulling..is what was supposed to be a VERY cute Mr. Candy Corn. He was cute as anything too when I stamped him on cardstock & drew in arms and legs....he was smiling and waving as he walked along in the moonlight....as the caption overhead read ...'By the light of the silvery moon'. But when I glued him to the collage...oh boy, he just didn't measure up to my idea of even remote success. The most interesting component of this collage is the rubber comb effect I got on the background by painting cardstock two different colors and then 'combing' it. The pumpkin is stamped on a coffee filter. And for a very interesting read on "Halloween" check these out...I appreciated reading them both. The first is geared for children, and the second is a blog post by a good friend, and a great read about her personal experiences.

What a lovely collage!! Halloween is not part of our traditions here in Catholic France. November 1st is the time when we remember and honour our dead, flower their graves etc. Comparing various cultures helps put so much into perspective...

I'm afraid I didn't insist enough on the "darlingness" of your stamped and collage work, Maggie Ann. It is truly adorable and made me smile :)

we don't "do halloween" either ... though i have some candy here, just in case the neighbours kids drop by - if they don't, then i have some yummy choco bars to eat!

sounds like you are on an even keel ...

i'm in a quiet mode ... but just wanted to pop by and say i've been reading your posts ... big hugs to you ... and blessings

Very cute...I dont like the dark side of Halloween either. I think it is too close to the Satanic side...I do like to see the little kids have fun though...Thanks so much for the recipe. Do you serve the recipe on the graham crackers or HOW??? Sandyz

I don't celebrate halloween any longer either for the same reason you don't...Christ is my Savior. Having come out of a darker side than most, I find the pull on my old man strongest at this time of year.

I've seen Christians decorate their webpages and blogs with witches/ghosts/vampires etc. and wondered. But I am in no way condemning another of a lesser spiritual strength. Sometimes people honestly just don't know or understand what God says about this particular holiday.

A quote from a link of a link you gave.

Also, we need to teach our children that "the fight isn't against occultists, non-Christians, Christians who feel differently than we about Halloween, or institutions that promote Halloween, but" "against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12, NKJV).

It really is a call of grace towards others. Maybe the Spirit will open doors for a heart to hear something they've been missing.

God bless you, Maggie Ann. Your creations are so enjoyable.

Popping in to say hello Maggie Ann.
Your decorating style is so similar to the room pics I posted today. The wallpaper, mirror, the soft and natural colors, all are similar don't you think? The similar feeling is the best I think, one of peacefulness and calm. Have a wonderful Lord's Day tomorrow!
