These are wool 'rovings' my son brought back from Switzerland for me to spin. Getting these was just like opening presents at Christmas...smile. The colors are very pretty and were dyed using natural plants. I stayed up late last night spinning...and was sad when I got so sleepy that I had to quit. It was a cozy time, spinning away, while the rain pelted against the windowpanes.

Amazing to get such vibrant colors fron natural plants. Mr. Hedgehog was adorable ... hope he tasted just as good. What a treat for you that your son brought you that beautiful wool to spin ... very thoughtful son.

Looks like it is a sampler pack of some sort Maggie. Sometimes companies sell their wool like that to give the customer a first hand look at the various colors available. Needle felters also buy wool in little lots like that as it doesn't take much to make a cute little needle felted bear.

I would like to see some of your work! That is very cool. My mom used to have a loom (sp?) and she would weave beautiful things...but she sold it when I was little and didn't save any of her stuff for me (bummer). Everyone in my family knits and crochets. But I don't seem to have the patience to learn. (I keep telling myself that when I'm no longer working full time I will learn to knit and crochet, as well as weave baskets, bake everything under the sun, illustrate books, sell antiques on ebay, learn spencerian handwriting, etc. etc. etc.)
