Hurray! Blogger is functioning today. I am disappointed that the yellow baby rickrack doesn't show up here, nor does the embossed lettering..'O Happy Day' ( and I cannot think or say this just now without completing it with...'when Jesus washed my sins away). Actually, I picked up this joyful expression from my daughter who has a very fun personality. Back to the embossed lettering...which I love, is there a way to highlight the letters in some way I'm not aware of? Picture me yesterday early evening bent over my daughter's old Holly Hobbie drawing desk with the light bulb in it...embossing!! Embossing is sooo elegant. Great for putting your initial on the back flap of your envelopes when you have outgoing mail. All you need is a stylus and a metal template of letters. Better get my day started, I was up till 2 a.m. ironing while watching the Health channel. Two cases of people being poisoned by thier spouses....like reading a mystery to watch it. I'm not a mystery fan yet, but it sure passed the time for me while I rolled through that ironing. Imagine how satisfying to have the tv covered by the clothes(the clothes hang in front of the tv if I'm behind in the ironing) and as the clock ticked away, I could see the whole tv screen plus the shelving unit with detergent etc. Ahhh, accomplishment! Not a mystery fan yet? You must check out an Agatha Christie book!

Well, I'm definitely a mystery fan, but only of a certain type. I love Agatha Christie's Miss Marple character and the TV show "Rosemary and Thyme", especially. Nice, cozy British mysteries. A quick, mostly painless murder (usually of someone who deserved it anyway ;), solved by middle-aged or older lady sleuths, amid pots of tea and knitting or gardening.

Your journal pages are so lovely. I always click on the pictures to enlarge them. That way I can see more of the detail.

Hm? Sounds like my daughter too. She's forever making up silly songs about the dog.

Don't think I've ever embossed. I used to stamp though. It was lots of fun when my mother would come and bring her stamps and such. We'd sit together in the kitchen and play for hours. Hahaha!

I enjoy Holly Hobbie too.

Do you remember as a child placing a quarter under a piece of paper and then taking a crayon and rubbing over it to get the impression of what was on the quarter? I am wondering if you were to take something like that and lightly rub over the embossing if it would help the letters stick out?

I do know at a lot of the rubber stamp/scrap book places they sell embossing powder that you can sprinkle on something and then heat it up (like holding the paper over the toaster) and the powder melts and gives you something embossed. You can get these embossing pens that is like a clear liquidy sort of stuff I think and try outlining the words and sprinkling the powder on it (the liquid stuff makes the powder stick), then gently tap off excess powder and then heat the powder up. Not sure if that would work for what you are doing, but you could maybe try it...
