This is what I've been up to...carrying my tatting with me where ever I go. Waiting in line at the Verizon store tatting away. I found I can slip a small plastic shopping bag over my left wrist and it will hold my ball of thread perfectly. I just finished the yellow and white bookmark last week, using #20 thread. Then I started the lavender and green one...same pattern but oh my what a difference in size, but I love the daintiness of it and the colors. It is being made with # 70 tatting thread and after it snapped off on me 3 times while closing a 'ring'...I said, thats it and quit but not for long. I unwound the shuttle and ran the thread through 'Thread Heaven' that Gina told me about. (Gina, the thread size wasn't 80 but 70..still hard to work with!). I don't know if I'll be able to complete this bookmark with so delicate a thread or not...its so fragile and the cloverleafs must be pulled quite snugly for tension. Interestingly, the coffee table doily is one I made some years back and it was made with regular crochet cotton but tatted of course. Can't recommend using that really, it doesn't slide very well. Anyway, hope you've enjoyed a peek at my tatting =). Thanks for all the nice comments about the 'altered CDs'....*very big smile*. I'm already planning to make one for my cousin...we will be helping to celebrate her sweet 3 year old's birthday June 11th. I hope to see some of your creations posted too!!

"God in heaven above, please bless me with your love,

Send your holy word to guide me, Safe within your arms, please hide me.

High in heaven's dome , I'll make your heart my home." unknown.

It is so lovely to see people doing this old needlecraft art in the New Millenium. Cross stitch and quilting have become very popular, but anything like lacemaking or tatting is not what most people would consider taking on. I wouldn't - eyes and fingers not up to that kind of close work!

I can see now how beautiful tatting is, your work is so lovely and the fine detail is stunning. I will now look at pieces of vintage tatting at my op-shop store were I volunteer in a different light now that I have seen your's and understand the delicate work involived in doing it. Thank you for showing us......

Hello Miss Maggie, I know I've been missing, but I think of you everyday and keep you in my prayers.

Love the tatting, so dainty and very lovely. Of all the needle arts, it and lace making are the only two I haven't tried to learn. And now, with less vision, I'm sure it's going to stay that way..*VBS* But I'm happy with what I can do...Hugs my friend, Finn Stay well..*VBS*

Very pretty.

I didn't know that crochet cotton was not good for tatting. It's all I've ever used (not that I've done a LOT of tatting). Maybe if I had the right thread I would be happier with my results? What do you normally use?
