Thinking of my embroidery as I am, this is from a Kate Douglas Wiggin book. I love sweet old-fashioned things. They have a steadfast and true base to them most often. Its like the classics. At first they seem boring, plowing through all the detail and humdrum description but boy, when you get to the end of a book like that, you are the richer for it and have learned about good and evil, right and wrong and are not fence-sitting, you are for the right to prevail. I always hate to see the book end...I feel like I know the people, whether its Anne of Green Gables or The House of Seven Gables. I'm having a good time reading this morning after being outside in the heat and doing some weeding. I love the tranquility of this day. Just me and the locusts humming. (I should have the washer humming but hey, life goes on). I made 2 new recipes this week and will probably make a new zuchini recipe for supper plus this for dessert. This is a no-bake cookie treat thats really rather fabulous if I do say so myself....Wish I knew how to 'bullet' this, but alas, I don't...sorrry.......Crispy Peanut Butter Balls......1 cup peanut butter-smooth....1....7oz. jar marshmallow creme...1and1/2 cups rice crispies cereal ..you can use 2 cups also....in a large bowl, combine peanut butter and marshmallow creme......add cereal and stir or mix till well coated. I work it with my hands till its like play-dough. Roll into balls and dip balls in melted chocolate. Put in frig till chocolate sets. I use the chocolate you use for making candy, it doesn't get sticky once it sets up but can't remember the name of it. Anyway, I really enjoy this recipe and thought I'd pass it along. better get going now but I've enjoyed visiting your blogs sooo much this early afternoon. If you're here, leave me a comment please, I'd like that! Posted by Picasa

I absolutely agree about old-fashioned things. Told my husband I'd fit in fine at about 1880 or 1900. Well, I do enjoy electricity, but simplicity sounds good just now.

Love the picture too!

Hello Maggie Ann (I love your name), thank you for leaving a comment yesterday! Lovely blog :)
Your recipe sounds yummy! Unfortunately we have neither peanut butter nor marshmallow cream in France... (we do have Rice Krispies though ;))

I agree with you about old-fashioned things. My grandma is 96 and I love it when she tells me about the past and shows me her linens!

Have a beautiful day!

Thanks for visiting Froggie Meanie! I love receiving your comments. I'm sure you can knit whatever you put your mind too! You just seem like that kind of person. Besides, if you make a mistake - it's only yarn. You can alway rip back and try again. And, like a classic novel, you'll be richer for having made the attempt (ok, maybe a little more frustrated than when you read a book).

I've copied down the recipe. It sounds great!

Love the picture of the lady stitching with a young girl at her side. I'd like to collect a few pictures like that for my "studio".
