Came across this also..On May 29, 2002, before a sudden illness prompted an emergency visit to the hospital, Benson spent the final day of her life as she had so many others: finishing up an assignment in the newsroom. In her obituary published the next day, Toledo Blade publisher and editor-in-chief John Robinson Block offered the following tribute:
"Millie Benson was one of the greatest women writers and journalists of the 20th century. She was gutsy and daring, a living embodiment of her Nancy Drew heroine. She influenced generations of Blade reporters. I will never forget her." [6]

So there is the little lady who wrote all those books I read when I was young. One of the first series I read as a small child was Honey Bunch, followed by the Bobbsey Twins and then on to Nancy Drew, Cherry Ames, some Hardy boys, and the Sue Barton nurse series. :-) This was really interesting, thanks!

I loved Nancy Drew and knew the stories were written by a various number of "Carolyn Keene's"...some even male writers I read. So, Knitting Kat, I accidently found your blog and think I'll become a regular reader.
