Once upon a time, (it didn't really seem that long ago!) I picked up a biography about Laura Bush and took it to the checkout desk at the library. Where I was told I had to get on a waiting list to read this book. Would you believe a waiting list that had 40 some people on it?

So this week...I got my call to come and pick it up. And, I just finished reading 'Anna Karenina'. Just. ( I should tell you that I skimmed over much of the political conversations.) And now I am happily 'into' 'Larkrise to Candleford' and loving IT.

Whoops, one more book, no two ....Today I started reading 'The Deserted Mansion' by Elizabeth Gaskell. Oh boy, its good. I was in the truck with hubby and on the way home from town I started reading (on my 'itouch'....with the 'Stanza' reader I downloaded. I also downloaded 'Kindle' and it is so nice! I love the way I can enlarge the font and choose a white, sepia or black background.)

The other book I tried on for size....via Stanza, is 'Moths of the Limberlost' by Gene Stratton-Porter. I have loved many of her novels from the time I was a teen-ager, and the love of them has been passed down in our family from generation to generation. 'Girl of the Limberlost' and 'Her Father's Daughter' are two of my favorites. I didn't plan to start so many books at one time, it just sort of happened. I'm ok with it though...=)

Reading is one of the most relaxing pastimes in my life, how about you? Are you a reader? I tend to do things in spurts though, I may read like crazy for a good while, then turn my attention to something else entirely. Well Laura, here I come....ready or not.
