Oh my! Oh my! This morning about 4 a.m. our son discovered we had a water break. The hosing in the frig for the ice-maker blew off...and flooded our home.(please click on the picture of the tv stand to enlarge it...then you can see how badly things were sodden) The water ran across the kitchen and down behind the stove. This happened about a month ago and we thought that time was awful..well this time was much worse. The water actually had our carpet in the family room underneath the kitchen....sodden! The water came through the brick somehow? and ran down the OUTSIDE of our basement french doors onto the patio as well! As well as 'raining' on our basement family room for hours. If you look at the french door you can see it is covered with water drops and the rugs are just totally soaked. My husband got up gallons of water with the shop vac and he took the red rug outside to dry somewhat on the patio. We have 2 dehumidifiers going and a large fan...hoping to salvage the carpets. Even though the water 'rained' down on the screen of our tv...none got inside. It still works! My hassock is sodden..I'm so hoping it will be salvagable because it matches the chairs.

My husband put a different kind of shut-off valve in the water line and completely eliminated the water going to the fridge. It will be ice-cube trays for us from now on. I agree completely! And to think we just had the repairman come out yesterday! (We've had the icemaker disconnected for a month...and just got it 'fixed' yesterday. We thought our troubles were over with this fridge...just goes to show...you never know what a day will bring. My husband is so exhausted and we both are very thankful the worst is over. We hope that no permanent damage will appear in the flooring.

He went to Lowe's this afternoon and bought many new ceiling tiles. Well if you are still with me, thanks for listening to my saga! Its been a long day. I'm on my way to a nice soak in the tub...hope that doesn't leak! lol. A special thanks to you son, if you happen by the blog...for all your hard work this morning. He pitched in something wonderful...when he had to be leaving to catch a plane for Texas. I hate to think what the damage would have been if that disaster had continued flooding until 6 or 7 a.m. instead of at 4a.m.

This is terrible ... !! I'm so sorry to see and read this post about your flood. We too had a flood last week in our basement ... the aftermath is about halfway cleaned up/repaired. Your flooding looks much worse than we suffered. I know this must be a stressful time for you.

May God restore you and give you strength to get through the clean up mess. May he bring warm weather your way to help dry things out. May your insurance policy cover all of the damage and make things better than before.

Hugs from across the miles,

Maggie this is awful. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I stopped by to say thanks for the comment on my blog but I guess now isn't the right time to be discussing stamping techniques. I hope you can get it back into some sort of order quickly.
take care.

I'm so sorry! We experienced a similar flood a few years ago. I know the misery. Hope you will be able to salvage everything.

Oh that's such an awful mess. I don't even know what an ice maker is so it's hard to imagine anything other than a washing machine creating such havoc.

I do hope you get dried out soon.
