Home again! How sweet it is. We enjoyed our visit with our daughter and her family immensely but oh how glad I am to be home.

Yesterday I 'missed' a step or two coming downstairs at our son's home and have a nasty sprained foot. I'm hoping thats all it is and that I won't have to go for an ex-ray. There was no light in the hall, and it was as dark as ink on that stairwell at the bottome. So today finds me wrapped up in an ace bandage and taking it easy.

We are still having some pc problems. My son thinks the modem needs to be replaced, so its on our list to call and talk to a serviceman.

Its another snowy day here. I've got my Sunbeam 'Tea Drop' tea maker in use today. I brewed a pot of 'Very Berry' decaf tea. There is a shop about an hour from us where the lady makes her own tea mixtures and sells it for about $1. a small bag. So many enjoyable things cost so little.

And, on the way down south, we stopped at an Amish outlet store and bought some yummy things. Next to it was a Homer Laughlin Store....and I got to see the new brown dishes, their latest color to the collection of Fiesta ware. There's something about brown I love. Especially brown with a tiny print on it. It gives a feeling of antiquity...a cozy solidness, don't you think so? I was once in a bathroom in a funeral home...and they had a wonderful brown wall paper, and in the bathroom, a stack of finger towels. After you dried your hands on a finger towel, there was a basket on the floor to drop the used towel in. If I had more room in my bathroom, I'd try that. It was so homey and yet luxurious at the same time. I bought my bathroom a nice addition yesterday. Bath and Body Works...Eucalpytus Spearmint Body Wash..... does it ever lather wonderfully and I've always loved mint. Bath & Body Works are on the tail end of a great sale. Last year's stock for half-price and if you call in the number on your receipt you get $10 off your next purchase of $30.

I've just started a book called 'Fallen Angels' by Patricia Hickman. So far, very good.

And I bought a book of poetry by Madeleine L'Engle while down south. Much of her poetry is breathtaking. She puts her finger on the heartbeat of life. I don't give blanket endorsement to any book except the King James Bible of course. You know what I mean and why. I'd read some of Madeleine's books of fiction years ago and did not care for them...except for one or two. But some of this poetry of hers....has put tears in my eye, and a catch in my breath. I do recommend this book...."The Ordering of Love". What have you read lately that has been outstanding?

Something that stuck in my mind this morning as I listened to a preaching tape...we have long listened to the devil....we have long turned our thoughts to the ways of the world. Now, as redeemed ones, we need to turn aside to Jesus, and learn and listen of him. This world's attraction and noise is very compelling and often enjoyable, good things even but things that eat up time that sometimes belongs to our Heavenly Father and Lord. My desire this year is to sit more often at the feet of Jesus. That is my need. Wishing for you every blessing that comes from above...from God, 'with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." James 1:17

'Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him." James 1:12. Wow...I need to review the crowns we can receive. How often I forget they even will be given out. To win or to lose!

Isn't there a legal way that you can change your second name and add an "e" to it?

Maggie, I sure hope that you ankle is feeling better this evening. You really do need to rest it completely for a few days.

Very Berry tea sounds practically perfect for a cool night.

Sounds like your trip was just lovely. I love what you said about so many enjoyable things cost so little. That is such a wonderful perspective that leads to contentment.

Take good care,

Maggie Ann! It was so good to hear from you! I hope your ankle will heal quickly. I so agree with you about listening to the d***l. I've gotten so I say "No", outloud a lot of the time, to every worrisome thought. I know where they are coming from.
I read "The Shack" recently and have another new perspective on God's love. Even grannies can grow in the Lord. It never stops. Although we are out of church, we are not out of Him!

Happy homecoming Maggie Ann. Miss Terry tried to get me to change my youngest daughter's middle name "Ann" to "Anne" since she is fond of Anne of Green Gables books. But I had to tell her that Ann used for a middle name just appears awkward with an added e to the end. I don't think she bought that line :) Hoping you are resting, sipping tea, and all snug today. May the Lord bring healing to your foot injury. Once again, your Bible message is a good one to share. Hugs (from sunny California this week),

Hello and welcome back.

Fallen Angels - Sounds very interesting and one I think my husband might like.

you shared,
"we have long turned our thoughts to the ways of the world. Now, as redeemed ones, we need to turn aside to Jesus, and learn and listen of him."

By listening to Christ, we are transformed by the renewing of our minds, where a great many spiritual battles are fought. I'm grieved to find so many worldly thoughts and concepts creeping into the church under the masquerade of spirituality. They take our eyes off Christ and onto experiences which deceive believers into thinking they are getting closer to God when in fact they are only drawing closer to religion and self.

Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Thinking on your poetry book...
My mother has a book of poetry by Elizabeth Barrett Browning that is to be mine when she goes to see Jesus face to face.

Sorry to hear you hurt your ankle but glad your time there was wonderful nonetheless.
