After a interrupted 'net' service, I am able to post tonight. Hurray! and hurry! I have been pretty much living in my sewing room having a great time sewing skirts and an apron. A new sewing machine came my way about 4 years ago, but this is the first time I'd put in a zipper or buttonhole with it.

I made 5 skirts in all...one was already partially sewn. Three are straight skirts that flare out in an 'a' line at the bottom just a little. They have elastic waists too...talk about easy!

My apron turned out first rate. I'm so pleased with it. Those cherries are so cheerful....=) I made a skirt with the same material and love it. Now the apron is done, but I don't have time to take a photo tonight. I used some large red rickrack on the pocket and top.

We will be gone for a week, visiting our daughter, while our son holds down the fort here. Maybe I'll get a chance to come visiting you all while there. Its so cold out though! Today was my BD...61 years and its so hard to believe. I don't feel that old at all! Eternity to come. Leaving you with a verse that spoke to my heart....

"For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall." Isaiah 25:4 I remember the times when God has been my strength, my refuge, and my shade when I have been needy or in distress. I am so glad I said 'yes' to Jesus, I want you to be my Saviour.

"I am thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, And it told Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith, And be closer drawn to thee. Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord, To the cross where Thou hast died; Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, To Thy precious, bleeding side.

"Oh the pure delight of a single hour That before thy throne I spend, When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend!" from the hymn 'Draw Me Nearer'...Fanny Crosby. Every day after I have my prayer time and Bible reading the Holy Spirit brings a hymn to my mind & heart. It thrills me really, and is such a blessing. During the day, that hymn stays with me to enjoy and ponder. This is the hymn he gave me this morning. I hope you've had a good day...and tomorrow is a 'new day...with no mistakes in it' says the 'Anne' quote. I like that thought. Its kind of like when they end a movie and the color picture is suddenly black & white...the photograph of life catches it and stops. Know what I mean? I like that....When our life ends here...I think it will be the opposite...this life will be the black & white and we will enjoy the glorious 'color' of immortality. Goodnight!

Happy birthday and many blessings from God throughout this new year! What a beautiful post this is ... in all that we do in the 21st Century there is a special quote of scripture that coincides beautifully. You certainly captured that moment with this post! Hugs ... Marcia

Sixty-one is the new fifty-one (smile). You are only as old as you feel. A trip to your daughter's, now that's a great b/d present. Have a safe journey.

Hugs from the balmy North Woods (27F)

P.S. I was wondering where you've been hiding the past week or so. Glad to read your pc is up and running now. Keep warm.

Happy Birthday Maggie-Ann

I am never disappointed whenever I come to your blog.
All of this sewing you have accomplished is so good.
Oh those pretty skirts!
I have never sewed but Betty used to make some pretty dresses.
This year has been so cold that I surely wished that I COULD sew!
I have really only two warm dresses. My others are all spring,
I have taken to wearing Bernie's warm jogging pants under my dresses. Ha!!! My dresses are long enough so that it doesn't show!
Well the battery is dying on this lap top so I will bid you a hasty farewell for now!.............Love Terry

PS I read your testimony again as to how you were saved...Excellent stuff!!

What a great sewing machine. I love your pin cushions and your thread holder.

Love that verse! Thanks for sharing.

What fun to spend time sewing. My machine broke just before finishing a Christmas gift for my youngest daughter. My wonderful neighbor came over in the snow to lend me hers. I finished my project in time. Friends are great gifts, too! And my daughter loves her flower and polka-dot reversible purse! My poor machine is still in the shop.

But, I've been busy as I decided to make and post a Valentine each day until Valentine's Day. You're invited to come visit!

Have a great trip!

I've been missing you even as I've returned to blogland. Seems as our paths just aren't crossing. But I saw a pattern of this last year with other individual bloggers as it's hard to settle back in after the holidays.

you shared,
"the photograph of life catches it and stops. ...this life will be the black & white and we will enjoy the glorious 'color' of immortality."

I'm wonder if those eternal colors will not only be seen but also felt.

I hope you truly enjoy your time away with your daughter. After long trips, we find that it's nice to get away but it's nice to come home as well.

Happy Birthday, Maggie Ann!

I love hymns, too. They are so rich with meaning and doctrine.

If you can believe this, I have some fabric lying on my counter that is pink with cherries on it. I've been thinking of making some kitchen towels and/or an apron with large red rick rack! Isn't that too funny?

A question off topic please. What was the title of a book you mentioned to me once about a young girl growing up...gosh, I can't even remember. It was one of your favorites. Sorry.

Happy Birthday dear one! Love listening to your thoughts and reflections. YOu did such a lovely job on that apron ... I really like fabrics with cherries. They just make you smile, don't they? I even enjoyed your darling little pincushion. Did you make that as well?

Hope you're enjoying a lovely time with your family.

Blessings,
Lea

I love the cherry skirt. I was just thinking moments ago that I need to set up my sewing machine so that it's ready to go when inspiration strikes!
