The Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside My Window....
It is a glorious day of sunshine, shadow and warmth. Most unusual for November 3rd and the foliage is breathtaking! All glory to God our creator!

I am Thinking...
I am thinking many thoughts. How much I enjoyed talking with my daughter a minute ago for one. I got to hear how fast our 6 month grandson is growing. They were here just a week ago and now he is starting to sit up all by himself. Imagine!

I am thankful for...
The fact that God is my eternal destiny, no matter how the elections turn out.

From the kitchen...
A glass of Sprite with a large squeeze of lime juice and with crushed ice. Oh delicious favorite of mine!!!

I am wearing...
A long sleeved blue pullover top with a black floral skirt that has bright red poppies and green leaves with blue flowers to harmonize with the top. Black knee-highs and oh such comfort...my shoes are the Walmart foam croc type only the closed in shoe with the 2 elastic straps across the foot. Did I forget to mention...I'm also wearing diamonds and sapphires? Grin. Well, I am. My wedding ring on the left hand closet to my heart and the sapphire ring on the right hand...a gift from my daughter years ago.

I am creating...
Well, I made two collage artwork 's' today and posted them on this blog and my art blog...'A Touch of Whimsey' (a shameless plug!) There's nothing as stimulating as a challenge with a week to complete them.

I am going...
To vote tomorrow morning, early I think. My daughter in the sunny south stood in line two hours today for the privilege of voting. 'My help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth'. How we need his help.

I am reading...
Oh I just have to tell you about the book I just finished last night on the way home from church. It was written by Catherine Palmer..and is titled..'Leaves of Hope'. I laughed and I cried...and wished it had a sequel. So much! I carried it with me all day yesterday between services and read aloud to my husband and I. All this wonderful story to enjoy while he drove us around and by the most wonderful colors in the trees and sky. No Wonder I'm a tad lonely today!

I am hoping...
And praying that Sen.McCain is our new President of the United States of America. I am thankful for this American hero. It would be a privilege to be led by him. He has served America well all of his life.

I am hearing...
Beautiful cd music...'A Lasting Inspiration' by Jacqueline du Pre...a wonderful cellist.

Around the house...
The laundry room is wonderfully conquered for now! My Waltons' dvd awaits my pleasure as well as knitting my guage for my toy monkey pattern. Trouble is, I'm infatuated with reading just now and have hit on a 'mother lode' of books that have been golden reading for the most part. Anyone else reading a good book? Do tell!

One of my favorite things...
Vanilla candles that really put out the fragrance. Hallmark used to sell such as that but I haven't had one as nice in ages as the ones we bought when the children were in grade school.

A few plans for the rest of the week...
To enjoy each day. To get a flu shot. To keep working at my craft room and trusting my heavenly Father about every thing. In this home and in this country.

Here is a picture I am sharing...I think this is an old-fashioned coffepot and it had another part to go under it that sat on the stove. The plates standing up were manufactured by the Homer Laughlin company. To read more daybooks go here! A special thanks to Peggy who is the hostess of all the Daybooks...=)

Oh Maggie Ann ... of course, I'm not mad at you. Not everyone has a case of chicken love like I do! LOL

Your daybook is so refreshing and uplifting. I have so enjoyed it. Love your reflections on the election ~ God is our eternal destiny. There is such hope in that regardless of the outcome.

And black knee highs ... I thought I was the only one who still wore them. I was just thinking today that I need new long underwear (preferably pink) and at least 7 new pairs of knee highs. It is these simple things that make me happy. (smile)

Do you enjoy the Walton's too? It was my favorite show growing up and I still enjoy it. I was born in a mountain home and there is just something about mountain folks that I love. I enjoy the Christy series, too, because of the mountain people and their ways.

Wishing you joy today!

Maggie,

Is Jacqueline du Pre still playing the cello? I know she has MS, and I thought she had quit playing years ago. I am going to look for the cd you mentioned. Thank you!
