I am almost ready to end my day, and just had to do it by posting the first installment of 'Winter Love' , the old fashioned story I told you about. We've had a good day, the chicken was delish, and I had a great idea...which was rinsing the chicken out and placing it in the roasting oven bag Saturday night... all ready to stuff in the morning. It saved valuable time and you all probably knew to do that all along. I'm a late bloomer...=). Pictured are a few of my Virginia Rose dishs manufactered by the Homer Laughlin company, maker of Fiesta-ware which I love and collect. The blue teacups are also Homer Laughlin..a pattern called Georgian, which is the start of a new collecton for us. My daughter got me about 5 teacups and saucers for Christmas. They are so much fun to use and ever so beautiful. There are roses painted inside the cup and when you drink your tea, its such a special treat to see the flowers there. Wishing you the most pleasant of days...today. "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not,..... for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." Deuteronomy 31:6

The name of this old-fashioned story is 'Winter's Love' written by Louise Forsslund. Taken from The Ladies' Home Journal, the January issue of 1906. I am kind of excited to do this, loving this kind of quaint, and dear storytelling. I hope you enjoy it too. Remember you can click on the post to enlarge it, and even hold your cursor over the bottom right hand corner to get a second enlargement if need be. Happy reading!

It sounds such a lovely, cozy day at your house. Your dishes are so pretty. I've always like that Homer Laughlin pattern.
Thank you for sharing this lovely story. The desription of the woman's wedding ring has reminded me of my husband's grandmother. She married as a young woman and never once removed her gold wedding band. She lived to be 101 years old. The back of her wedding band had worn to the thinnest of threads too.

What a beautiful story...so detailed. It almost makes you feel like you are there standing to the side watching everything and everyone.
