This is a picture from a vintage copy of The Ladies Home Journal.
I have one year's worth of 'The Ladies Home Journal' from 1906. I want to scan some of the advertisments and perhaps share some with the Flickr collage group. The adds are so entertaining and quaint and it really does surprise me how many of the products we use today were in business back then. It does seem odd though that every single page is in sepia tones and good old black & white. No color anywhere. To make up for it, there are detailed articles of various kinds and plenty of them. The magazine itself would almost make two of ours today, size wise. The subscription price for a year was $1.25 with free postage in the U.S., Canada, etc. Single copies 15 cents! The needlework is amazing, lots of directions for it too. Hope you've had a good day, I'm a little under the weather today, but still up and about. A bit of humor..from Rebecca McCann "Now the leaves are falling, Grey the autumn skies, Southward geese are calling, Perish countless flies." I'll say amen to that, thought I haven't seen any flying geese yet and those V-formations always give me a thrill to see.

"The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted." Psalms 18:46

I'm praying that you get well real soon, it is certainly no fun to not feel good. Recently my DIL was sick and laying on the couch almost all week, her little 2 1/2 year old girl would come up to her several times a day and pray "Dear God, thank you for Mommies heart beat and thank you for making Mommie feel better" I'm quite sure God loves to hear the little ones pray. They are so sincere and have so much faith.
I just love your picture, Old magazines and old adds are so interesting. When we lived in Oregon,in 1970, we did some remodeling and when we tore up the bedroom flooring we found some 1919 to 1921 newspapers. We found an add for a brand new car delivered for $495.00. (I'll take 2) lol. Well it nice to get caught up again with the lives of my blogger friends.

Vintage magazines are always so fascinating! I never get tired of looking at them. The art work is aways phenomenal, and the articles often leave me feeling like I wish I could go back in time.

Hello there you knitting Kat!!

I just thought I would pop in and say "Happy Lord's Day" to you!

I can see that there is a whole lot of catching up I have to do with you blog site!

This is such a nice piano picture that you have here!

You know I used to teach piano and my one sister, Grace who I taught to grade five[that is as far as my simple knowledge coud handle her!]really surprised me one day.
I forget which building we had gone to but inside of one large room there was a giant grande piano like the one in this picture, that just seemed to be beckoning to us to be played.
Looking this way and that, my sister Grace saw that the way was clear and sat herself gently down on to the fancy piano bench and just let loose on playing that "too beautiful for words" piano.. and oh, Maggieann , the music that poured from her overflowing heart and through her fingers and on to the keyboard!
It was SO good.

Grace has the talent that I never did pocess of thinking only of the instrument, whether it be the piano in front of her or the violin cradled in her arms.
She was never nervous of audience
To me, THAT is a gift in itself!

I just wish that I had of had my tape recorder to cature that lovely music on tape!

I will be back on Monday to read your posts Maggie-ann
Have a good day and God's blessings on you! Love Terry

ps..Little sister, Grace now teaches in a music studio..

Hi! I love this image - could it be printed out and used for a card - for non-commercial use do you think - I would love to give it a try sometime?
Have a great day!

Just popping over to see how you're feeling ... better I hope. What a little history lesson each time you open one of your vintage magazines :) I have a "White House Cookbook" from the mid 1800's that is a kick to read (reprint) ... there was no refrigeration back then ... other than a spring house or block ice, so the kitchen skills of that era were quite different ... fun reading.
