Yesterday, while my friend was visiting and making us some gorgeous bracelets out of Swarovski Crystal I made us some vintage bookmarkers. Oooh what fun! I start out with a good quality glue stick. (Big Lots has Kodak glue sticks right now for 50 cents) Next I paste down a background of tissue paper (on a sheet of cardstock)..green w/sparkles this time, and one thin layer of fancy kleenex. Then just layer on your collage type things( I cut them into strips with the paper cutter last) and what a delightful result. If you've never tried this its so easy and such fun. Buying a CD of vintage clip art is the way to go ...you never run out of goodies that way. ~~~~I loved your comments about life in general on my previous post...=). And..books, ahh books! Beany Malone holds a special place in my heart yet, as does Elsie Dinsmore and the Eugenia Price series. How about Willa Catha and Patricia St.John? Gene Stratton-Porter and how I could go on and on. I'm off to the craft room to make another sheet of bookmarkers and re-string my watch bracelet just now. If you are here just now , please leave me a comment...I'd love to hear from you. I'm looking forward to responding to your comments by visiting your blogs. It may not be untill tomorrow though, prayer meeting is tonight and by the time I do some crafting it will be time to get supper on the table. Wishing for everyone a coffeetable book full of feminine ideas and a good novel waiting to whisk you away later on. Also... for me personally I am praying God will bless Israel with victory and her prisoners of war with survival and God's mercy and strength.

"Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head; they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away." Isaiah 51:11 This prophecy was fulfulled after the horrid things they suffered at the hands of the Babylonians and God will take care of his own, again and again.

"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near; Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." Isaiah 55:6,7

The bookmarks are gorgeous! I think I don't have enough patience to make them, but would love to have one in my latest book!

At the time of the Beany get-together, a company in California was just beginning to reprint the books. But I don't think they're in libraries any more, shame of it. I looked on amazon.com just now and they have the whole series. Yes, Beany married Carlton and there are two books beyond the wedding. Then Lenora wrote another series Stacy Belford and her sister, whose name I've forgotten for the moment. Turns out these girls babysat for Beany! Amazing discovery and such fun. Beany's prototype in real life is Kathy and she lives in the place Lenora used to live, where we had a cook-out at the end of the Saturday together. Those who didn't need to get back for church the next day (most were from way out of town and probably didn't go to church anyway) were treated to a waffle breakfast the next morning ala Johnny Malone and the authentic skillet he used in the books. So cool.

I'll check back with you later with a list of my favorite authors, but Eugenia Price is definitely one of them as well. I hope to get to St. Simons Island one of these days when we visit family in Georgia.

Come back and visit again!

Maggie Ann, You do great work. I am busy making invitations right now for a ladies neighborhood get together. One of my neighbors and myself decided that our neighborhood needs to get to know each other. About a year or so ago we started by having a tea here at my house. Since then we have been having a party and just inviting the ladies in this immediate area. I will post my invitations when I get one made to show. I love knowing my neighbors. Take care and God Bless. Sandy

I *love* your bookmarks...Great job!! I have collage on the brain lately--I've been collecting collage blogs for the bloglist at my new blog so if you'd like to check out some really terrific collage blogs, check out my new list here:

I've been getting so inspired just looking through these blogs!

And Beany Malone--yes! Love her, too... I've been meaning to read Meet The Malones again... Whenever I read that book it's almost like watching an old movie (if you know what I mean). Again, great job on the bookmarks! Blessings, Debra

i feel like i'm all thumbs when i look at crafty type of stuff ... but i guess my talents lie elsewhere ... :o) ... thanks for sharing ... and especially for the encouraging verses at the end of your post ... these past few weeks my heart has been in the heavenly courts - wishing i could linger longer ... yet earthly cares bring me down with a thud - yet my heart yearns for a time when those earthly hours will vanish and we'll be living on heavens time ...

I expected to like Elsie Dinsmore a lot. But I was appalled by a lot of it. I thought Elsie's Dad was quite abusive in his attitude toward his daughter - expecting her to be absolutely perfect towards him at all times when he was a perfect stranger and she was just a little girl.

Do you think I misread it or brought a bad attitude to it? I did not like Elsie's father much!

oooh I just love those bookmarks!

I thought Elsie's father was too strict with her also, but he had a way of being tender toward her and she loved him dearly. Tonight in Wal Mart I heard a child screaming very loudly because it couldn't have what it wanted, I'd dare say Elsie would have never done that. Also, will that child grow up to love his father like Elsie did. If only there was a way to train a child without being so strict. Although, I don't think you have to be as strict as he was. I read, lived and breathed the books all through my childhood. I have a grandaughter named Elsie, (after Elsie Dinsmore)I don't mean to sound preachy, I understand your feelings, as I am very sensitive to controling people and Elsie's dad did seem controling. Since I wasn't asked to prach a sermon I'll sign off with this. Maggie,I love your bookmarks and you are very encouraging, the verses and all.

Oh wow are these precious : )

And all the sewing too in the other posts is really inspiring me now to get more crafty. My room will be covered with paper snips and fabric swatches and yarn balls and it will be all your fault, lol : )
