Happy Fourth of July everyone! " O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties, Above the fruited plain! .....America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crowned thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! Katherine L. Bates/Samuel A. Ward.

I've had another happy day here. I no sooner had fed the washing machine and sorted through some books when the phone rang. My friend asked me to go along shopping with her...after a micro-second (if there is such a thing) of hesitation, I was up and away. As usual we had a good time shopping together. We looked at all the flowers and gardening tools, & bought groceries. We spent the longest time (and the most money=) in the bead aisle at Walmart. Oh the pretty glass beads they have gotten in. Then when I got home I had some more iced coffee and read a chapter of my book....about Ivy Malone. Its a mystery....and Ivy is a Christian and one very brave woman. I rested a while and went out to trim 3 shrubs, then hubby came home from work and off we went to the store again. (I had forgotten to get eggs!) I'm thinking of making a lemon meringue pie in the morning and potato salad and that yummy broccoli & cauliflower salad with the bacon and sweet dressing. I've got the potatoes cooked already. Later tomorrow (on the 4th) we are invited to a 'pig roast' at church friends home. So, we've plenty lined up ....and what I especially want to do is play horseshoes....I have this heavy rubber set that is the perfect weight for my arms. Hope your day is lots of fun...I'll be looking forward to coming by your blogs to visit and hear all about your holiday!

*We heard such wonderful messages at church yesterday....I love this truth; quoting from Pastor's message. "What a great act of the LORD's mercy before we are saved...we don't go looking for God-it is He that seeks out us". Luke 19:10 "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." Of such was I. Oh glory, I'm saved and thrilled to be saved, washed from my sins by his shed blood on Calvary's cruel cross.

Happy 4th, Maggie! It sounds like you are going to have a full day!! Enjoy! :o)
Care to post your recipe for the cauliflower salad? It sounds good and I have yet to find one with a dressing that I remember tasting at my grandma's. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it amongst her cookbooks...so maybe yours is it! :o)
