Ode to chocolate! For years I've avoided milk chocolate because of being lactose intolerate but I find I can enjoy the dark kind. So I have an occasional thought of my cholerestol soaring and a doubting tremor passes through my thoughts but I've not stopped buying the chocolate...ahem.
Last evening my hubby had chest pain when he breathed in deeply and he looked...well, not well. I thought we might end up in the ER but he is back to work this morning...men are impossible to understand sometimes, don't you think so? I am worrying about him now, and am convinced he needs a day off and a DR.'s visit. He will soldier on....and on. And on.
I have to admit I was up late last night reading To Kill a Mockingbird. I would loved to have had a Dad as wise and compassionate as Atticus, wouldn't you? I finished the book this morning (there are a few profanities sad to say, just like real life)...what wisdom Atticus had! I wish I could think life out that clearly...like a lawyer.. ..Hmmmm. Abe Lincoln must have been like that. One of my favorite quotes from the book is this "Then Mr. Underwoods meaning became clear; Atticus had used every tool available to free men to save Tom Robinson, but in the secret courts of mens hearts, Atticus had no case. Tom was a dead man the minute Mayella Ewell opened her mouth andscreamed." these summations seem so wise, especially in the sad circomstances of life on this planet, and men and women cursed with a sinful heart and in many (most) cases, dead and blind to the fact. Hey, I'm starting to sound like Atticus...do you think spending 4 hours with him could do this? ....smile.

In my Bible reading this a.m. I'm reading in the book of Joshua. The last verse says; So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said...&...verse 18. "Joshua made war a long time... ""which sort of ties in with this quote from Atticus..."And don't you fret yourself about anything-why, if we followed our feelings all the time we'd be like cats chasin' theier tails" Satan would hurl us down in discouragement with his lies but...we need to keep our eyes on Jesus..."The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want..." the battle is God's and he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Blogger will not let me out of 'italics' I see. Now, if I only had the will power not to eat my Friendship cake which is oh sooooo good and worth all those trips up and down the basement steps looking for sugar, and cinnamon, and instant vanilla pudding. Blessings on you if you have a pantry on the same floor as your kitchen and I am dead serious! You are blessed...grin.

Just wanted you to know that Vitamin E helps greatly with chest pains at times. When it's just a minor thing, it works really well.

Praying for you both.

I hope your husband is feeling better and that there is nothing serious wrong.

I read To Kill A Mockingbird back in grade 11 English (1984/85) and I remember liking the book. We also watched that old black and white movie that was made as well. A few years ago one of the ladies at work borrowed the book tapes of this novel from the library, and I enjoyed listening to it. It was definately a good read/listen!
