Out to the kitchen I go to pack my husband's lunch, then the day is over. At church tonight we heard missionaries to Russia and Eastern Europe. They help in church planting and training nationals and with a ministry to homeless children who number in the hundreds of thousands and live underneath the large city of Kiev. Tapping into electrical lines running under the city in crawl spaces, and water lines.....these children live in such poverty and want. It makes you just want to sit there and cry to see these slides and hear some of the stories. More to pray for and help even a little. In the slides, thier faces were so precious as they were photographed at a summer camp, those who could go. You could see the happiness of the day on their faces...it was tangible. Oh that it were permanent. Who would have dreamed that such a thing exists in this cruel world? What a great blessing to be born in our country, and have homes and parents and be able to lavish the necessities of life and the luxuries upon our children. This has so touched my heart tonight....these helpless, precious children. So sad and so needy.

"But whosoever shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depths of the sea." Matthew 18...

I feel so helpless in the face of such misery.

On a different note, I meant to tell you, yes, that's me in the foil creation. I've looked worse.

Our DD#2 is planning a missions trip to Moldova this summer. It will be interesting to hear her perspective after 5 weeks there. You know...the contrast between the USA and that country. The needs..etc..

Maggie Ann, If you ever go on a missions trip like my husband and I did you will see these children. They beg and you are told not to give to them. They will follow you everywhere. It is a completely different world in Europe. I was SO HAPPY to be home again in the good ole' USA!! We are so spolied but YET so FREE!! We are so Blessed to live here!! Never take it for granted...Sandy

Its so sad for these children and the children here in our own country that are homeless or have no family to love them. I try to help a little by giving but its never enough.
On another note.. Ms Maggie you are such a blessing to me! When I am at my lowest or just feeling a little lost I can come here and get such a blessing from your posts and scriptures... you are my earthly angel and I am truly blessed. Please keep me in your prayers

yes it is very sad, I heard about these children a year ago on the radio when visiting missionaries were telling their story. I'd love to go and take some of them in my arms and give them a big hug and a house and family.

it is sad to hear such depravity in this world...we are so blessed as a nation to have what we have. Every Christmas I ask the Lord to bring a family to me that has hit hard times, every year He answers my prayer...we purchase gifts..the basics, and food...sometimes anonymously ring the doorbell and run!! I consider myself blessed and rich in many ways

There is so much needless suffering in the world, this is true. Stories such as this remind me of how truly fortunate I am to live as I do - so many petty things that I complain about - it's just ridiculous really. As my mum would say "there but for the grace of god go I".

when i hear stories like that, my heart totally breaks. ever since i graduated from college, my prayer has always been for my heart to grow in likeness to our Father's heart... may the things that bring His heart joy will bring my heart job... and likewise the things that break His heart will break mine as well... knowing the heart of God and knowing how much He loves those children just as much as He loves us... brings me to my knees...
