Here it is, only December 2nd and I am well on my way with the decorating. While decorating this evening....I had a fun idea. If you have clear teacups try putting a tea light in them....its very pretty = ) and hopefully won't cause the depression glass to crack. I am really tired but I got a lot done. Our tree is up in the dining room this year because just maybe we will get a 'live' tree closer to when our daughter and her family come home. Well, its late..of course, but couldn't resist saying hello via the blogmosphere. My goal this holiday season will be to not lose my awareness of God amidst all the commercialism and 'I wants'. "Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness." Psalms 119:36. I must needs add, that my husband spoils me something wonderful...so I need to keep my heart right with God in this area too. Oh that everyone could have the blessings that many of us have. The best blessing of all though is taking the salvation of God for our very own. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" Romans 10:13 When you pray the sinners prayer...changes will be evident in your life sometimes right away and sometimes by and by...but you will know you are his! He will hear you when you pray...God will be your father. Posted by Picasa

Hi Maggie, your mantelpiece looks lovely...

I so agree about Christmas.
(That's why last year, I didn't give a single gift that wasn't homemade. I hope I can manage to do that this year as well. I need to get really busy this week-end - but my week-ends aren't all free either! I also need to read for research, and get my lecture ready for Monday...).

Have a wonderful weekend! You are making yourself such a cosy, cheerful home for Christmas. I love seeing your pictures! I hope to find a mini tree today...

Love the picture, candles sure do make everything so soft and festive. My daughter and I are putting up the decorations today too and I am sooooo looking forward to it... unfortunately we moved this summer and our new apartment is a bit small for a tree but we plan to make it as festive as possible with all our other decorations.
Thanks for the reminder to not make Christmas about the material things... That thought process always robs the joys of the holiday.
You have a great site... I plan to visit it again.
God Bless.

Hello Miss Maggie, how beautiful your mantle looks with the tea lights in tea cups..*S*

Here in Western WI we are having a lovely quiet snowfall...very much of the " the snow had begun in the gloaming..and silently all the night, filling the fields and forests, with a blanket, soft and white"...*S* Don't recall who wrote it, but it is a favorite of mine.

I love it when it snows this way..just drifting down so silently. Happy Snowy Saturday to you..Hugs, Finn

You shared,
"My goal this holiday season will be to not lose my awareness of God amidst all the commercialism and 'I wants'."

I think this is a good suggestion and reminder to all of us. Thank u.

changes will be evident in your life sometimes right away and sometimes by and by...but you will know you are his! He will hear you when you pray...God will be your father.

Amen. The Spirit bears witness to our spirit and we know that we are His and He is ours. The Holy Spirits teaches us all things helping us to discern His Truth from error. My heart cries 'Abba Father'. I can't allow any mood to take center stage over truth.

Good Word!

What a beautiful picture of your mantel! Of course the snowmen are my favorite as I collect them. LOL Christmas shouldn't be so commercialized. Going back to celebrating the reason for the season and getting together with all the family is the best gift of all.

I just love the lace fabric on your mantelpiece, do you collect them Maggie? I go up to our local op shop every now and again and they always have loads of vintage lace doilies etc, would you like me to keep a lookout for you? btw is it ok if I add you to my links, sorry it's taken me so long.

Thank you for such a lovely post and for the message in it. We too are trying to come "down to earth" with Christmas and all its pressures and wants. Hopefully we will succeed.

Love the Christmas decorations - very cute.

Thanks again for the post - we all need reminding in this busy world of what is important.
