Has anyone ever heard of this?...Mary Miles Minter in the 1918 silent film, Anne of Green Gables by Realart. I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw this. I used to subscribe to the 'Avonlea Traditions Chronicle'. Did anybody else? I am a true fan of Anne of Green Gables and Avonlea. When I was in about 7th grade, I read Anne...and wrote letters to my best friend, using the imaginative Anne talk. We had great times, living in the shadow (or should I say sunshine) of Anne. Oh, millions of us love Anne so much! Just in passing, it shows that something so wholesome is loved so much by so many...our children today need this type of entertainment instead of witchcraft and horror films and..well you get the idea. L.M. Montgomery has no idea the wonderful legacy she has left the world and how many lives she touched beyond the time she left this earth. Posted by Picasa

I'll have to look for this film. I, too, loved Anne growing up. I remember the mini-series on PBS. I couldn't get enough of it. I always wanted to die my hair green becasue Anne did it. Mom didn't think that was a great idea!

Would it be great if life were really like that?

I got the series of PBS from netflix to watch and love it. I had read the books to my daugthers when they were younger because they were my favorite (next to the Boxcar Children of course). Will have to find the one you mentioned. thanks,

I was a big Anne fan. I've also read LM Montgomery's journals. I live not really all that far from the Anne house (about maybe 2 hour drive...roughly, maybe 3).

The province of Prince Edward Island (where LM is from and Anne is based) is very big in the tourist department for that reason. I've also been to the house where LM was born, her cousin's house (this house was used for another of her smaller 'series' books)...everywhere you go on PEI you can see something of Anne.

Maggie Ann,my mom introduced me to Anne (with an "E") when I was a girl and as a matter of fact, last summer you would have found me reading through the series. "Green Gables" is still my favorite!
