This is a pillowcase and sheet set that I made for my Mother oh my, 20 years ago perhaps. It was a complete surprise to her and I really enjoyed crocheting this. It was so lovely, it seemed like magic to be able to make something so special that was so easy. Wondor why I didn't make any more? I left replies to comments on my last post, and think I'll do that from now on. That way I can respond to your comments and if you have time you can get my thoughts on ....your thoughts = ). I can honestly say I love blogging. Doesn't it surprise you when someone has never heard of it? Changing the subject now, Finn said she received lots of hankies as gifts, has anyone else or are Finn and I in just that special 'hankie' age bracket? I'm going to post a pic tomorrow of a hankie that my Aunt made that was so special I raved over it and (of course) she gave it to me. There's just something about needlework.....something tranquil and special. Its like you can stop time and all that accompanies it for a while when you pick up the crochet hook or any 'needle' and create beauty and usefullness. You don't even need a college education or much money in the bank to enjoy needlework. Its just a special thing! Not to mention something that gets left for future generations to marvel over, (hopefully)....and enjoy. I love seeing what Gina posts at her blog. By the way, I just love the verse for today in my sidebar. Have you read it?...Wishing all a tranquil day.

This is just beautiful,I think so much of needlework is a lost art~many women don't want to bother or don't have the time to learn. I think it is such a shame. I am not the best at this sort of thing, but I do enjoy cross stitch and some embroidery. Whenever I go to fleamarkets or antique shops I am always on the lookout for vintage linens. I love those little days of the week kitchen tea towels and southern belles!
Dear 'Me', I would love to see any of your hankies. Hope you post some on your blog. How interesting to read your comments!! I love that you pinned your Grams hankies to your bridal bouquet. And the Garden Fete...the long dress and it pinned with the hankies, how delightful, oh wouldn't we all love to see a picture of that. They should feature you with your hankies in a womens magazine!! Yes, really = ). Thanks for sharing your wonderful memories.~~~~~~~~~~Lady Laurie, I know just what you mean, needlework doesn't have to be a 'lost art'. I love the vintage things too.
Happy Birthday! I love the hankies. Can remember my mother asking me each Sunday if I had my hankie and she would tie my dime in the corner for church offering. I got a dollar each week and I knew 10 cents was going to church!
I meant to add me at the end of happy birthday but got carried away with the hankie story.... sorry
Oh Maggie Ann, your sheet and pillow case work is absolutely exquisite. Your mother must have been over the moon when you gave it to her. I assume you have retrieved it for yourself now? Thank you for your compliment on my blog. I am finally achieving my dream of showing my linen collection to the world - never thought it would be on the Internet though! But what a great medium. As for handkies; I actually sold most of my unused boxes of handkies on eBay a few years ago, wondering what people saw in them....luckily I came to my senses and saved the few that were left!
