I am about to make a nice hot cup of tea and watch an animated Christmas movie for children. I think we have a child's story book somewhere around here with the same title, which I can't remember quite. Something about Otter and the Jugband Christmas?? I used to read it to the children when they were small.
Its funny about reading. Our daughter wanted nothing to do with it. And then..when she was about 9? years old, became sick. I sat on the foot of her bed and read to her...I'm not sure if it was the Bobbsey Twins or the Happy Hollisters, but halfway through that book....she latched onto it and never looked back. Loves reading to this day!
On the other side of the coin, her twin brother reads mostly 'tech' articles & newspapers. Rarely any fiction for him. Who can tell?...how a child will bend. Genetics I'm sure...play a part in this. My Father was very interested in technical articles and was an excellent photographer, but wanted no part of fiction. My Mom, & her Mom & sisters, devoured fiction. I'm in this gene pool also...ha ha and love it. You know how good a good book is! I'm thankful for wonderful fiction and non-fiction. Its a world of its own. I feel relaxed just thinking about books!
Psalm 64:10 "The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory."

Happy New Year! My late mom was blind and I read mysteries (good, clean ones!) to her all the time.
Thanks for your visit - I was fascinated to learn about the Ladybird children's books also. I had never heard of or seen them before today. I love, love those illustrations.
Hi Maggie Ann, I just rememberd the name of one of mama's favorite mystery authors: Phyllis Whitney. If you have not read any of her books, I think you would love them.
me again...you might really enjoy my friend's blog about the books that she reads. Patsy @

Happy New Year to you maggie ann!!!
with my glaucoma, i sometimes wonder if my reading will one day be curtailed? if so, then my hearing will hopefully work well enough for audio books! all things to think about as we age, eh!
admidst all that - may you be blessed in 2012, so many blessings HE has bestowed on us!
Thanks for your encouraging note! The first sweater I could knit because we were on our way to Texas, a looong road trip, which gave me plenty of time to knit. The second was simply that drive to finish because the other little grandsons' was done!
Hope you have a wonderful day.♥
