I know you can't really see the cable pattern in this picture, but my 'skinny scarf' is finished. Size 13 needles and a fun chunky yarn.  My daughter had been here for a whole week for my bday....=) and we started these together. I want to start another in a solid yarn so that the design will show up.  This is so cozy to wear, even though I think it needn't have been quite so long.  I know it shouldn't be worn with a red sweater...but....its warm & cozy and I'm just home today.  All day. =)
Daughter took us and a friend to a fancy tea room for lunch and this is the hat I wore.  We had a wonderful time. I loved it.
Anyone else have vintage dresser scarves and teacups on their dresser?  You can never  have to much  loveliness, right?
One of our Sunday Sch. boys...just turning 8 years old...drew this Bible story of Joshua.  The words on the yellow scroll proclaim....'Strength, Courage, Success.'  Well put.  It is utterly delightful and a blessing.  He gave it to me!....and I think it is just wonderful.  Four pages of the story in his own words and all illustrated.  If I were rich I'd have it made into a book.  My grandson does things like this too that I love.
We happened on a book sale this past two weeks.  Fill a plastic basket for $5.00.  We filled two baskets and came home with about 48 books....more or less.  This is one of them.  I really enjoyed the photos and information this one had.  I hadn't realized that Jackie was 12 years younger than Jack. She was 24 and he was 36 when they married.  I've always admired her for her courage and grace. And being able to speak fluently in 4 languages also. And that she wore my shoe size...10A.  haha.

Warm wishes for a blessed Sunday.  Time to worship and enjoy some quiet time.  Its been a nice day here,  staying home all day.  No tv as yet.  Meditating on the Sunday School lesson on the Lord's prayer.  Our example.  Learning to say, 'thy will be done'.  Remembering worship starts in the heart with action following.  Wisdom from God....what a priceless gift.  Love it.  Having ham & scalloped potatoes Hubby prepared.  (gotta love him for that =)....(& I do!).  Baking a blueberry cake.  Enjoying the serenity of the day.  Reading a 'Miss Read'  Christmas story,  'The Christmas Mouse'.  I feel like I'm there with them in the house...its that good.

'I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.'  Psalm 130:5

Lots I relate to: Size 10 (not A) even when I was young. After babies = 11! Must get back to knitting. The scarf looks fun. Okay, I'm a little OCD, but fine hats in tea houses should come with disinfectant since you don't know where they've been. :-) I have my mom's dresser scarves with crocheted and tatted edges. Bookaholic = yes! Miss Read = yes! Hubby cooking supper . . . mmm, no. :-)

Very nice scarf and the hat you wore is very pretty! Seems like a nice idea to go to a tea! My father always ended his conversations with, "God willing." Brings back happy memories. Enjoy your Sunday!

thanks for stopping by my blog last night. the scarf is very pretty, i don't cook, knit, crochet, sew or any of those things, but my mother did. love the card from the little boy and the hat is like what we wore way back when everyone wore hats to church.

Hi Maggie Ann:

Thanks for stopping by. It's nice to meet another knitter. I'm not a knitter. I'm a knitter "appreciator"!!

Best,
Bonnie

Happy Birthday! Your scarf is very nice. How fun to spend time with your daughter knitting.

I've been to a tea room twice and enjoyed it very much!

That picture the 8 yr old drew is priceless.

Enjoy a peaceful Sunday evening.

Happy Birthday!!!! Thanks so much for your comments! Oh, I love the scarf, the hat (wow, don't you channel Jackie in it!) and the cups and table scarf. Wonderful things! And how wonderful to spend that time with your daughter for your birthday!

And, what a sweet story your little SS boy wrote! Aren't kids the ray of sunshine in this world!!!

Hi Maggie,
I loved your post :0) I just L O V E your hat :0)
But it would so love to really see the story of Joshua. As you say "what a blessing"
A number of years ago, I used to have a Bible Club in my home with children that came home with me from school (I worked in Reception class) I miss those precious times with children and their simple openness to the Bible stories.
I have never read a Miss Read book, but you have put it in my mind to do so now. I have just bought War Horse by Michael Morpurgo, looking forward to a quiet read ..... I think a box of tissues will be needed!
Have a lovely week,
Val xx Berkshire UK

What a great birthday - a tea and your daughter home! These are such special times, aren't they. Love the hat. Every time I see a pillbox hat it reminds me of Jackie K.

I'm just learning to knit. No cables yet!

We have a tea room about 45 minutes from us. I couldn't wait until Mom came to take her. Of course the day we went was the day we were closed.

Aren't daughters the best?!!
