This lovely bouquet reminds me of the lilac bush in front of my Grandma's porch. Going to her house was a huge treat! She had seperated from her alcoholic husband years before and lived in a very feminine.....hmmm style. Magazines, books, needlework, overflowing candy dishs, cats purring around your legs....homemade pies on top of the portable dishwasher. Homemade bread she held up against her apron above her waist to slice. Always an air of contentment or so it seemed to me back then when I was a little town girl. Grandma had a wonderful swing under her apple tree, it was on a bit of a hill, so when you pushed off, you swung out into space while looking up through the leafy canopy above. Down her cellar steps there was a wide shelf that she kept pans & such on. On the wall above it hung her iron skillets etc. And the view from her kitchen window....magnificent so I thought then. It overlooked a sloping strip of land she owned that ran into the woods. Her house was a wedding gift from her father, built just for her. My Mother said her Mother....you guessed it, was not nice to grow up with. ( a former school teacher with an attitude). My life then was built around imaginations, rainbows in my mind, that seldom came to life. Now, as the busy years are over...of being a young mom myself, I look back still with fond memories of a Grandma I really didn't know very well. My other Grandma adored me and I her. She suffered many years from cancer, and was very poor, living in rented rooms in a big city. Love is a powerful thing...and my poor Grandma gave me something so precious I've never forgotten it. Forget the house in the country I'm fond of...and was even born in! Love wins every time, hands down. I hope thats what my children will take into thier future memories of me...that I love them....unconditionaly..eternally. Which brings me full circle to the love of God for me, for you. John 3:16..."For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him, should not perish, but have everlasting life." Just tonight I had word of someone on thier deathbed. Not someone I love, but someone God loves...I pray that even yet, they may call upon God for forgiveness of thier sins. "Behold, I stand at the door, (of your heart) and knock; if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." Revelation 3:20 Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling....

Childhood memories are the best. I often wonder what sort of memories this hi tech generation of kids will have when they get older. I had my husband put a tire swing in the tree a couple of years ao just so the kids could have memories of swinging in the tree.

I'm afraid a large portion of my kids' memories will be that Grandma had cable! Oh well.
