Many years ago one of our favorite treats was to go to the zoo. It still is something I enjoy very much. My little twin brothers didn't seem to be having a very good time here, did they. Perhaps it was hot and they were so little and cute but must have been all 'tuckered' out. There I am with my camera....Dad's hobby and passion was photography. I was thinking just this afternoon of my childhood. It would have been completely beyond my comprehension what a pleasant place my God would place me in as an adult...as a born again Christian. A loving and handsome husband. Three precious children, a lovely home and every desire of my heart my God has given me, pouring down blessing upon blessing. The saddest thing of my life was parting with our daughter when she died to this earth, and began her life with God. He says though, "My grace is sufficient for thee" II Corinthians 12:9. My heart safely rests in Him. To be a Christian is a gift so precious I cannot fathom it myself...."I know not why God's wondrous grace to me He hath made known,...Nor why unworthy-Christ in love, Redeemed me for His own.But I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able....To keep that which I"ve committed..Unto Him against that day."

Great candid pic. Don't you just love the "going to the zoo" in a dress and pumps (or flats)? Zoo pics are difficult because of all the restrictions with the cages. This is a great black and white capturing a moment in time. Is that you with the box camera?

Great picture Maggie Ann. Like Mrs. Mac said dress and pumps..well that is just the way we all dressed. Someday I guess maybe people will look back and say look at that. They went to the zoo dressed like that? WOW!! Who knows. Things always change. Have a great tomorrow. Will be checking back to see how you are doing like I do everyday...Sandy

Thank you for sharing these pieces of your past. The Lord is the one that keeps the pieces together.

I really like the photograph...isn't it so very typical of younger kids to be finished with the zoo after forty-five minutes or so? :o)

Great photo, sad about the cage...Weren't we humans cruel to zoo animals back then, without realising it. I remember seeing the lions at Melbourne Zoo back in the 1950's, pacing up and down the concrete floor of their cage, and vaguely feeling sorry for them. Any zoo that kept animals like that in these enlightened times would be closed down quicksmart! Melbourne Zoos lions (and our other Big Cats) are now in a kind of park area and the humans walk across a bridge high up to see them. The giraffes have a huge enclosure to wander around in...not as big as the African savannah of course, but one heck of a lot better than 50 years ago!

This picture is just beautiful! You know, I think my heart yearns to have belonged to this time. It's all so appealing to me. This picture really warmed my heart. I'm glad you have it. You must be a gorgeous lady!

Your twin brothers are classic!

And I'm terribly sorry for what you must have went through saying goodbye to a child.

Hugs,
Jess
